World No Tobacco Day 2019 was observed by the College of Fisheries Engineering, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam on 31 st May 2019. The objective of the day was to urge tobacco users worldwide to abstain from using tobacco products for 24 hours, an action they hoped would provide assistance for those trying to quit. Dr. K. Rathnakumar, Dean (i/c), College of Fisheries Engineering presided the event at college premises, took the pledge along with the Teaching and non-teaching staff of College of Fisheries Engineering. He stated that “We should be healthy and make others healthy” and “Those who are addicted to smoking are spoiling themselves and others.”

நாகப்பட்டினம், தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், மீன்வளப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரியில், உலக புகையிலை ஒழிப்பு தினமானது அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்நாளின் நோக்கமானது, மக்கள் 24 மணி நேரத்திற்கு புகையிலை பொருட்களை பயன்படுத்துவதைத் தவிர்ப்பதற்காகவும் மற்றும் இதிலிருந்து வெளியேற முயற்சிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு உதவி வழங்குவதற்காகவும் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது.. முனைவர் கு. ரத்னகுமார், முதல்வர் (பொறுப்பு), மீன்வளப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரி, அவர்கள் முன்னிலையில் கல்லூரி பேராசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் அலுவலக ஊழியர்கள் அனைவரும் உலக புகையிலை ஒழிப்பு தின உறுதிமொழி எடுத்துகொண்டனர். நாம் ஆரோக்கியமாக இருக்க வேண்டும், மற்றவர்களையும் ஆரோக்கியமாக வைத்து இருக்க வேண்டும் மற்றும் புகைக்கு அடிமையாக இருப்பவர்கள் தங்களையும் மற்றவர்களையும் கெடுத்துக் கொள்கிறார்கள்" என்று அவர் அறிவுரை கூறினார்.
