A training programme on “Bioflocs fish / shrimp farming – Basics, problem focus and possibilities for adaption” was held at Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam on 26.02.2021, Professor G.Sugumar, the Vice-Chancellor of the University has
inaugurated and emphasized on the importance of water quality in fish / shrimp farming. The Vice-Chancellor said that due to the poor water quality and related issues, premature harvest of the species is done in the farms. He further continued that in biofloc system the excess uneaten food is utilized by the algae and bacteria to form bioflocs which in turn could be useful as a proteinaceous feed for the species. Through this technology farmers can maintain the water quality with less feeding, minimal water usage and control of disease attack. Mr. Amal Xavier, Joint Director of Department of Fisheries, Nagapattinam district and Mr. Prabaharan, District Development Manager, NABARD, Nagapattinam district felicitated the event and explained the different state and central schemes that could benefit the farmers. In technical session, Dr. Akshaya Panigrahi, Principal Scientist from Central Institute for Brackish Water Aquaculture,
Chennai, has delivered speech on problems and solutions for biofloc based farming. Infrastructural requirements and economics of the biofloc technology were explained in detail by Er.Ravichandiran of Kula Aqua Consultancy, Chennai. Dr.Gopalakannan, Programme
Coordinator of KVK Sikkal, has explained the ideas and concepts required for successful implementation of biofloc technology. Mr.T.Anand, Assistant Professor of College of Fisheries Engineering delivered a talk on water quality parameters in biofloc systems. Mr.Givindaraj, General Manager of Hitide Seafarms, Sirkazhi and Mr. Irshath Basha, a successful bioflocs farmer from Trichy, have shared their farm experiences in implementation of biofloc technology. Dr.R.Rajendran, Dean, College of Fisheries Engineering and Convener of the event welcomed the gathering. More than 100 farmers from different parts of Tamil Nadu,
Pondicherry, and Karaikal participated in the training.

மிதவைகள் கூடிய பயோபிளாக் தொகுப்பாக மாறுகின்றது. இதனால் பண்ணையாளர்கள் நீர்த்தரத்தை பராமரித்து தீவன உபயோகத்தைக்
குறைத்து, குறைந்த அளவு நீரை உபயோகித்து நோயற்ற சூழலில்அதிக உற்பத்தியை செய்ய இயலும் என்று தெரிவித்தார். இதனைத்
தொடர்ந்து இப்பயிற்சியில் கலந்து கொண்ட வல்லுநர்கள் பேசினர். மத்திய உவர்நீர் ஆராய்ச்சி கழகத்தை சார்ந்த முதன்மை
