In view of celebration of Foundation Day of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University on 19.06.2018, special events (Open Day and training program) was organized at Metro Fish Processing Facility, College of Fisheries Engineering, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam. The programme was inaugurated by the Dr. S. Balasubramanian. He emphasized the role and responsibility of the University in elevating the economy of fisher folks. On this special day, around 150 numbers of school students from in and around Nagapattinam was visited Metro Fish Processing Facility. Department Faculty was explained about the machinery present in the plant. In addition, “Hands-on training programme on value addition of fish and fishery products” was also arranged. Thirty college students were learned about preparation of value added products and benefitted from this event. The coordinators of this event, Dr. P. Karthickumar and Dr. R.
