College of Fisheries Engineering, a constituent college of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam and National Coastal Centre for Research (NCCR), Chennai had jointly organised “International Coastal Clean-up Day- 2021” at Nagapattinam New Beach on 25.09.2021. The event has started with students rally from Superintendent of Police Bangalow, Vellipalayam with flag waiving by the respected District Collector, Dr. Arun Thamburaj, IAS and respected Vice- Chancellor of Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Dr. G. Sugumar. The event was inaugurated with invocation at Nagapattinam New Beach. The Dean In- charge of College of Fisheries Engineering Dr.N.Manimehalai, welcomed the chief guest Dr.Arun Thamburaj, I.A.S, District collector, Nagapattinam and Respected Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University. The Respected Vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University Dr. G. Sugumar has presided over the function and has given the presidential address. District Collector, Nagapattinam has given the chief guest address. In the chief guest address, District Collector, Nagapattinam insisted to dispose the wastes in a responsible way without polluting the environment and beach. District collector further told that clean beach is our pride and it is our responsibility to safeguard the sea and its environment. In the presidential address Vice-chancellor insisted to restrict the use of plastic in everybody’s day today life. The beach cleaning work was started by waiving of the flag by the Respected District Collector, Nagapattinam and Vice-Chancellor. The beach cleaning event was started by waiving the flag together by District Collector, Nagapattinam and Vice chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University. Respected District Collector and Vice-chancellor involved in collection of waste in the Nagapattinam beach along with the students volunteers. About 100 NSS volunteers including Teaching and Non-Teaching staffs of College of Fisheries Engineering participated in cleaning the beach.
During the beach cleaning process, students have collected different wastes such as plastic water bottles, carry bags, food wrappers, cigarette packs, fishing net and floats, glass bottle light bulbs, metal containers, electric wires, papers including newspapers, paper cups and cardboards, cloth items, woods, rubber sheets, foot wears, balloon items. District collector told that clean beach is our pride and it is our responsibility to safeguard the sea and its environment. Students also segregated the wastes into plastics, glass, foam plastics, metal, papers, clothes, wood, rubber and other waste materials. The total weights of all the collected items were 243.25 kg. The event ended with certificate distribution to all volunteers who have participated in the beach cleaning event. The Vice-chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University distributed the certificate and Dr.M.Ramar, NSS Program officer proposed vote of thanks. The program was organized by NSS Program officers Dr.M.Ramar, Er.S.Monikandon and Er.P.Muthukrishnan and NSS student volunteers. In this occasion student also took pledge to safeguard the sea and its environment.

மீன்வளப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரி, தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், நாகப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் தேசிய கடலோர ஆராய்ச்சி மையம் (என்சிசிஆர்), சென்னை இணைந்து 25.09.2021 அன்று நாகப்பட்டினம் புதிய கடற்கரையில் "சர்வதேச கடலோர தூய்மை நாள் - 2021" ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தது. . மாண்புமிகு மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் டாக்டர்.அருண் தம்புராஜ், ஐஏஎஸ் மற்றும் டாக்டர் ஜெ.ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் மதிப்பிற்குரிய துணைவேந்தர் முனைவர்.கோ.சுகுமார் ஆகியோர் கொடி அசைத்து வெள்ளிப்பாளையம் காவல் கண்காணிப்பாளர் பங்களாவில் இருந்து மாணவர்கள் பேரணியுடன் நிகழ்ச்சி தொடங்கி வைத்தனர் . நாகப்பட்டினம் புதிய கடற்கரையில் அழைப்பிதழோடு நிகழ்ச்சி துவக்கப்பட்டது. மீன்வளப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் பொறுப்பு முனைவர். ந.மணிமேகலை, சிறப்பு விருந்தினரை வரவேற்றார். தமிழ்நாடு மாண்புமிகு துணைவேந்தர் டாக்டர் ஜெ.ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் முனைவர்.கோ.சுகுமார் விழாவிற்கு தலைமை வகித்து துணைவேந்தர் உரையை வழங்கியுள்ளார். மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர், நாகப்பட்டினம் தலைமை விருந்தினராக உரையாற்றினார். சிறப்பு விருந்தினர் உரையில், மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர், நாகப்பட்டினம் சுற்றுச்சூழலையும் கடற்கரையையும் மாசுபடுத்தாமல் பொறுப்பான முறையில் கழிவுகளை அகற்ற வலியுறுத்தினார்.
தூய்மையான கடற்கரை எங்கள் பெருமை என்றும், கடலையும் அதன் சுற்றுச்சூழலையும் பாதுகாப்பது எங்கள் பொறுப்பு என்றும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் மேலும் கூறினார். துணைவேந்தர் உரையில் துணைவேந்தர் இன்றைய ஒவ்வொருவரின் வாழ்க்கையிலும் நெகிழி (பிளாஸ்டிக்) பயன்பாட்டைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த வலியுறுத்தினார். மரியாதைக்குரிய மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் நாகப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் துணைவேந்தரால் கொடியை அசைத்து கடற்கரை சுத்தம் செய்யும் பணி தொடங்கி வைத்தனர் . மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் நாகப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் துணைவேந்தர் ஆகியோர் இணைந்து கொடியை அசைப்பதன் மூலம் கடற்கரை சுத்தம் செய்யும் நிகழ்ச்சி தொடங்கியது. மாண்புமிகு மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் மற்றும் துணைவேந்தர் மாணவர்கள் தன்னார்வலர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து நாகப்பட்டினம் கடற்கரையில் கழிவுகளை சேகரிப்பதில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர். மீன்வளப் பொறியியல் கல்லூரியின் ஆசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் அலுவலக ஊழியர்கள் உட்பட சுமார் 100 நாட்டு நலப்பணி திட்ட மாணவ தன்னார்வலர்கள் கடற்கரையை சுத்தம் செய்வதில் பங்கேற்றனர்.
கடற்கரை சுத்தம் செய்யும் போது, மாணவர்கள் நெகிழி (பிளாஸ்டிக்) தண்ணீர் பாட்டில்கள், கேரி பேக்குகள், உணவுப் போர்வைகள், சிகரெட் பொதிகள், மீன்பிடி வலை மற்றும் மிதவைகள், கண்ணாடி பாட்டில் விளக்குகள், உலோகக் கொள்கலன்கள், மின் கம்பிகள், செய்தித்தாள்கள், காகிதக் கோப்பைகள், துணி பொருட்கள், மரங்கள், ரப்பர் தாள்கள், கால் உடைகள், பலூன் பொருட்கள் மற்றும் அட்டை போன்ற பல்வேறு கழிவுகளை சேகரித்தனர். தூய்மையான கடற்கரை எங்கள் பெருமை என்றும், கடலையும் அதன் சுற்றுச்சூழலையும் பாதுகாப்பது நமது பொறுப்பு என்றும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் கூறினார். மாணவர்கள் கழிவுகளை நெகிழி (பிளாஸ்டிக்), கண்ணாடி, நுரை பிளாஸ்டிக், உலோகம், காகிதம், துணி, மரம், ரப்பர் மற்றும் பிற கழிவுப் பொருட்களாகப் பிரித்தனர். சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட அனைத்து பொருட்களின் மொத்த எடை 243.25 கிலோ ஆகும். கடற்கரை சுத்தம் செய்யும் நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்ற அனைத்து நாட்டு நலப்பணி திட்ட மாணவ தன்னார்வலர்களுக்கும் சான்றிதழ் வழங்கப்பட்டு நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்தது. தமிழ்நாடு துணைவேந்தர் டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் சான்றிதழை வழங்கியதுடன், நாட்டு நலப்பணி திட்ட அலுவலர் முனைவர்.மா. இராமர் நன்றி கூறினார். நிகழ்ச்சியை நாட்டு நலப்பணி திட்ட அலுவலர்கள் முனைவர்.மா.இராமர் , பொறியாளர்.சு.மணிகண்டன் மற்றும் பொறியாளர். பி.முத்துகிருஷ்ணன் மற்றும் நாட்டு நலப்பணி திட்ட மாணவ தன்னார்வலர்கள் ஏற்பாடு செய்தனர். இந்த நிகழ்வில் மாணவர்கள் கடலையும் அதன் சுற்றுச்சூழலையும் பாதுகாப்பதாக உறுதிமொழி எடுத்துக் கொண்டனர்.
