Constitution Day was celebrated at College of Fisheries Engineering on 26 th November 2021 as part of the celebration of 130 th Birth Year of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949 and came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India. The Government decided to observe 26 th November as 'Constitution Day' or 'Samvidhan Divas'.
The event started with Tamil Thaai vaazhthu. A warm welcome address was delivered by Miss.M.Jeevadharshini, student of I Year B.Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering). Dr.N.Manimehalai, Dean i/c, CoFE gave a speech on the meaning of the Preamble and explained the philosophy of the Constitution through the meaning of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity and Dean i/c, CoFE also insisted to read the life history of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar that leads to the growth of the Society. Dean i/c, CoFE administrated the pledge of the Preamble to the Constitution to faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of CoFE. The entire college reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian Constitution by taking the pledge. CoFE faculty and students have taken the pledge through online mode also (https://pledge.mygov.in/constitution- day/). The programme on Constitution Day was attended by faculty members, non- teaching staff and students actively participated in the event. The students of CoFE were actively participated in the online quiz contest of Constitution Quiz 2021-22 conducted by the Government of India.
In addition, competitions such as Essay Writing (Tamil & English), Elocution (Tamil & English) and Drawing were organised to spread awareness about the Constitution and the winners were issued with a certificate. The vote of thanks was delivered by NSS & RRC Secretary of Student’s Association, Mr. S. K. Chrispin Binesh and the programme was concluded with National Anthem. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. M.
