The Paraprofessional Institute of Industrial Fishing Technology (PPIIFT), Ramanathapuram organized an Awareness Programme on Fisheries Courses and Career Opportunities for School Students at the Government Higher Secondary School, Irumeni on 19.06.2026, as part of the University Foundation Day celebrations. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Director i/c, Dr. S. Athithan.

The event witnessed the participation of around 50 school students. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among school students about fisheries education, training programmes, and diverse career opportunities available in the fisheries sector.

Er.M.Sivasudalaimani, Mechanical Engineer and Capt.A.Sakayarex, Skipper, delivered detailed presentations highlighting various fisheries courses, skill development pathways and employment prospects in both public and private sectors. The sessions were highly informative and interactive, providing valuable insights to the students.

Faculty members and staff of PPIIFT actively participated in the programme. The institute staff coordinated all arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

The programme successfully inspired students to consider higher education and careers in fisheries and allied sectors.
