Webinar on Covid-19 and its Impact on Food Security among Marine Fisherfolk

The Department of Fisheries Extension, Economics and Statistics (DFEES), Dr. MGR
FC & RI, Ponneri organized webinar entitled “Covid-19 and Its Impact on Food security
among Marine Fisher folk ” on 08.10.2020. Dr. L. Surulivel, Assistant Professor,
DFEES welcomed the gathering. The Online workshop was inaugurated by Dr. B. Ahilan,
Dean of the institute. Dr.L.Surulivel, Assistant Professor discussed about ‘Covid-19 and
Its Impact on Food Security’. Dr.L.Venkatachalam, RBI Chair Professor, Madras
Institute of Development Studies, Chennai threw insight on ‘Ecosystem Services of the
Coastal Wetlands and Livelihood Security’. Dr. C. Jerome Samraj, Assistant
Professor, Department of Economics, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry briefed about
‘Impact of lockdown on the livelihood of Marine Fishing Communities’. From
various parts of the Country around 65 participants attended the online workshop through
