International Mangrove Day 26th July

International Mangrove Day was celebrated on 26 th July 2021. In this connection the DFRM & DAEM conducted the awareness training on “Importance and Conservation of Mangrove Forests” at PRFF, Pazhaverkadu on 26.07.2021. Totally 35 Students and Youngsters participated from the villages in and around Pazhaverkadu. The event started with the welcome address by Prof. D. Manikandavelu and the Inaugural address by the Dean Dr. B. Ahilan, in which he emphasized that the mangroves are most productive ecosystems, providing habitats and nutrients for a variety of organisms and followed by two lectures delivered by the faculties Mrs.S. Aruna,AP,DAEM- Classification and Importance of Mangroves and Mr.P.Pavinkumar,AP,DFRM- Threats and Conservation of Mangrove forests.

Besides the awareness program the drawing competition was conducted for the students. Finally, the programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr.R. Velmurugan,AP,DFTFE. The arrangements for the programme were made by Mr.P.Pavinkumar, Training coordinator.
