Students of Dr.MGR FCRI, Ponneri shines in First Indian Fisheries Outlook

Dr. M.G.R Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri secured runner up position in
“Young Fisheries Talent Search” organised as a part of “First Indian Fisheries Outlook-2022”
on the theme “Priming Indian Fisheries in attaining Sustainable Development Goals”. The
event was jointly conducted by ICAR- Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI) and
Professional Fisheries Graduates Forum (PFGF) at Kolkata, West Bengal from 22-24 th March
2022. Three students (III B.F.Sc) of Dr.MGR FCRI, Ponneri namely Abirami.S,
Kavimugaraja.M and Suwetha.P participated in Young Fisheries Talent Search and presented
their innovative idea, “Greeniiac - model of fisheries journalism”. The student team secured
runner up position among the thirty three teams participated in this event from different
parts of the Country. The students were honoured with the Young Fisheries Talent Search
Award – runner up award and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. Dr. B. Ahilan, Dean i/c of the
institute along with the staff and students of Dr.MGR FCRI, Ponneri applauded the students
for their great achievement.
