World Food Safety Day Celebrated at FC&RI, Thoothukudi

The World Food Safety Day is declared by the United Nation for the first time as 07th June with the theme as “Food Safety Everyone’s Business” for this year.  A programme was conducted to commemorate the Food Safety Day at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi.  The main focus of the programme is to sensitize the staff and students of FC&RI on the food safety aspects as the Food Safety issues are rising day by day. Access to sufficient amounts of safe & nutritious food is the key to sustaining life and promoting good health.  With an estimated 600 million cases of food borne diseases annually, food safety is an increasing threat to human health. Earlier, in order to bring awareness among the students, a quiz programme on Fish Safety was conducted for the undergraduate and “Design Thinking Contest” to develop a prototype of fish retail outlet for Post Graduate students and a pledge on Food Safety was also taken.  In the Programme Dr. Suguna, District Officer, FSSAI is the Chief Guest In her address she stressed the need for the Food Safety in the country and the role of FSSAI.  She distributed the prizes to the winners of the competition.  Mr. Rajamuthu, FSSAI explained usually about the adulteration in the food and rapid and economic methods for detection. Dr. P. Velayutham, Dean, FC&RI, Thoothukudi, presided over the function. The programme was conducted by the Department of Fish Quality Assurance and Management. Dr. R. Jeya Shakila, Professor and Head gave the introductory address and Mrs. R. Shalini, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks.

ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் முதன் முறையாக ஜீன் மாதம் 7-ம் தேதியை உலக உணவு பாதுகாப்பு தினமாக “உணவு பாதுகாப்பு அனைவரின் கடமை” என்ற கருப்பொருளின் கீழ் இந்த ஆண்டு அறிவித்துள்ளது.  மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையம்  தூத்துக்குடியில் இன்று (07.06.2019) உலக உணவு பாதுகாப்பு தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.  இதன் முக்கிய நோக்கம் அன்றாடம் வளர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் உணவு பாதுகாப்பு பிரச்சனைகளை மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தின் மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் ஆசிரியார்கள் எடுத்துரைப்பதாகும்.  சத்தனா மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பான உணவை தேர்வு செய்வது ஆரோக்கியமான வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்வதற்கு முக்கிய கருவியாகும்.  ஆண்டிற்கு 600 மில்லியன் மக்கள் உணவின் மூலம் பரவும் நோயால் பாதிக்கப்படுகின்றனர்.  இந்த உலக உணவு பாதுகாப்பு தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு உணவு பாதுகாப்பை பற்றி வினாடி வினா போட்டியும் சுகதாரமான மீன் விற்பனை நிலையத்திற்கான மாதிரி வடிவமைப்பு போட்டியும்  மாணவர்களிடையே நடத்தப்பட்டது மேலும் உணவு பாதுகாப்பிற்குரிய உறுதி மொழியும் எடுக்கப்பட்டது.
இந்த விழாவிற்கு விருந்தினராக முனைவர். சுகுணா உணவு பாதுகாப்பு துறை மாவட்ட அதிகாரி கலந்து கொண்டு நாட்டின் உணவு பாதுகாப்பு பற்றியும  உணவு பாதுகாப்பில் உணவு பாதுகாப்பு துறையின் பங்கினையும் விரிவாக உரையாற்றினார் மற்றும் போட்டியில் பிரிசு பெற்றவர்களுக்கு பரிசுகளை வழங்கினார்.  திரு. இராஜமுத்து உணவு பாதுகாப்பு துறை கண்டறியும் வேகமான மற்றும் பொருளாதார முறையினை பற்றி விளக்கமாக உரையாற்றினார்.  கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர். பா. வேலாயுதம் இந்த விழாவிற்கு தலைமை தாங்கினார்.  இந்த விழாவானது மீன் தரக் கண்காணிப்பு மற்றும் மேலாண்மை துறையால் நடத்தப்பட்டது.  முனைவர். இரா. ஜெய ஷகிலா பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் துணைத் தலைவர் முன்னுரை வழங்கினார் மற்றும் திருமதி. இரா. ஷாலினி உதவி பேராசிரியர் முடிவுரை வழங்கி விழாவினை சிறப்பாக முடித்துவைத்தார்.
