WORLD WATER DAY (22.03.2021) CELEBRATED AT FISHERIES COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THOOTHUKUDI

Every year on March 22 nd , World Water Day is observed to raise awareness about the value of water and to inspire people to take action to resolve the water crisis. The World Water Day was celebrated on 22.03.2021 at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi as per the recommendations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the event was organised by the Department of Aquatic Environment Management. Dr.P.Padmavathy, Professor and Head welcomed the gathering. Dr.B.Sundaramoorthi, Dean in his presidential address stressed the importance of observing World Water Day, as well as the existing state of water availability and the need to conserve it for future generations. Two undergraduate students gave a talk on the “Valuing of Water”. Various competitions including essay writing, poem writing, and poster presentation were also held among the students in both Tamil and English. During this programme, the winners of the competitions were announced and presented with certificates. This programme was coordinated by Dr.V.Rani, Associate Professor and S.Manickavasagam, Assistant Professor. Mrs.D.Manimekalai, Assistant Professor proposed the vote of thanks.
