“Harvest Mela” at Mariculture Research Farm Facility, DAQ, FC&RI, Tharuvaikulam under NADP scheme on IMTA

Mariculture Research Farm Facility, Department of Aquaculture, Fisheries College and Research Institute,Tharuvaikulam a constituent Institute of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, has organized harvest mela under NADP-funded Scheme on “Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) based culture technology to augment fish production as an alternative livelihood for the fisherfolk of Tharuvaikulam, Tamil Nadu” on 08.11.2022 and harvested lobsters, tiger shrimp, milkfish, pompano and seabass stocked in cages. The harvested fin and shell fishes were sold to local buyers and the public. In his harvest mela function Dr.B.Ahilan, Dean, FC&RI, Thoothukudi welcomed the gathering. Dr.G.Sugumar, Vice-Chancellor, TNJFU, Nagapattinam delivered the presidential address and in this presidential address, he stated the importance of combining culture species at different trophic levels in mitigating the impact of waste discharge from cage culture and the scope for alternative sources of livelihood from the integrated farming system. The vice- chancellor has also inaugurated the harvest mela through sales of fin and shellfish to the public. Mr.T.Vijayaraghavan, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Thoothukudi has detailed about the subsidy schemes for cage culture and Dr.S.Athithan, Professor and Head, Department of Aquaculture has delivered the vote of thanks in this function. Dr.K.S.Vijay Amirtharaj, Assistant Professor and Head i/c and Principal Investigator of the scheme coordinated and organized the overall program.

தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின. ஓர் அங்கமான மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தின் கீழ் இயங்கும் கடற்சார் உயிரினவளர்;ப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி; பண்ணை வசதி தருவைக்குளத்தில் 08.11.2022 அன்று “ஒருங்கிணைந்த பண்ணடுக்கு கடற்சார் நீருயிரி வளர்ப்பு” திட்டத்தில் அறுவடை திருநாள் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இவ்விழாவில் கூண்டுகளில் வளர்க்கப்பட்ட சிங்கி இறால்கள் வரி இறால்கள் பால் கெண்டை கொடுவாமீன் மற்றும் பாறைமீன்கள் அறுவடை செய்யப்பட்டு பொதுமக்களுக்கு விற்;பனை செய்யப்பட்டது. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் முனைவர் ப.அகிலன் முதல்வர் மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையம் வரவேற்புரையை வழங்கி அனைவரையும் வரவேற்றார்;. முனைவர் கோ.சுகுமார் துணைவேந்தர் தமிழ்நாடு டாக்டர் ஜெ. ஜெயலலிதா மீன்வளப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்ரூபவ் நாகப்பட்டினம் அவர்கள் தலைமை உரையாற்றினார். அவரது உரையில் பண்ணடுக்கு உணவு சார்ந்த மீன் வளர்ப்பின் பயன்கள் குறித்து எடுத்துரைத்தார் மேலும் ஒருங்கிணைந்த கடல்கூண்டுகளில் மீன்வளர்ப்பு மேற்கொள்ளுவதல் மீனவ சமுதாய மக்களுக்கு மாற்று வாழ்வாதரமாக அமையும் வாய்ப்புகள் குறித்து எடுத்துரைத்;தார். எதிர்கால கடல் மீன் தேவையினை கடல் கூண்டுகள் மூலம் வளர்க்கப்படும் மீன்களே பூர்த்தி செய்யும் நிலை உண்டாகும் என்பதைக் குறிப்பிட்டார். திரு.தி.விஜயராகவன உதவி இயக்குனர் மீன்வளத்துறை கூண்டுகளில் மீன் வளர்ப்பதற்கான அரசு வழங்கும் மானியங்கள் குறித்து எடுத்துரைத்தார். இவ்விழாவில் முனைவர் சா.ஆதித்தன் பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தலைவர் நன்றியுரை ஆற்றினார். முனைவர். க.சே.விஜய் அமிர்தராஜ்ரூபவ் உதவிப்பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தலைவர் (பொ) மற்றும் முதன்மை திட்டஅலுவலர் அவர்கள் இந்நிகழ்சியினை ஒருங்கிணைத்து ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்தார்.
