CONDUCTED AWARENESS PROGRAMME IN CONNECTION WITH WORLD FISHERIES DAY 2023 CELEBRATION BY FISHERIES COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, THOOTHUKUDI

The Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, one of the
constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Fisheries University organized
awareness programme in connection with World Fisheries Day 2023 on
21.11.2023.

The Department of Aquaculture of this college organized an awareness
programme among the school students of Sakthi Vinayagar Hindu Vidhyalaya
Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi. Dr.S.Athithan, Professor & Head,
Department of Aquaculture delivered a talk on Conservation and management of
fisheries resources” among youth and fisher community and highlighted the
depletion of fisheries resources in marine and freshwater through over
exploitation and unsustainable fishing methods. Further, all the school students
administered the pledge of World Fisheries Day.
