Health Checkup and Blood Donation Camp organized at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothkudi on 25.04.2024 and 26.04.2024

A health checkup camp was organized at Fisheries College and Research
Institute, Thoothukudi on 25.04.2024 in collaboration with Primary Health Centre,
Thoothukudi wherein about 146 students were medically examined. Two Medical
Officers and 8 Nurses were involved in this medical checkup. Dr.B.Ahilan, Dean of this
institute inaugurated the health camp and emphasized on regular health check-up and
also stressed upon the importance of maintaining healthy life style. Totally 146 students
of this institute were benefited through this camp.
A Blood donation camp was also organized by NSS unit of Fisheries College and
Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 26.04.2024, in collaboration with Blood Bank of
Thoothukudi. Out of 30 willing students, 24 units of blood was donated by the student
members of this institute. Dr.Shanthi, Blood Bank Officer, Thoothukudi Medical College
and her team was performed this activities. Dr.N.Felix, Vice-Chancellor, TNJFU,
Nagapattinam inaugurated this camp in the presence of Dr.B.Ahilan, Dean thanked the
Medical Officers and Nurses and expressed in his address the students come forward
voluntarily to donate blood to help the persons requiring blood. The University Officers
Dr.Cheryl Antony, Director Research i/c, and Dr.P.Padmavathy, Director of Sustainable
Aquaculture were present. Blood donation can save lives of persons.
Mr.M.Muruganantham, NSS Programme Officer coordinated the above entire
programme.
