World Soil Health Day Celebrated at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi

Every year December 5th is celebrated as World Soil Health Day to mark the importance of soil as a critical component of the natural system and as a vital contributor to the human well-being through food, water and energy. As per the recommendations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, World Soil Health Day was celebrated at Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 05.12.2018 which was organised by the Department of Aquatic Environment Management. In the inaugural function, Dr.P.Padmavathy, Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of Aquatic Environment Management welcomed the gathering. Dr.N.V.Sujathkumar, Dean i/c in his presidential address highlighted the importance of celebrating soil health day and the role of soil in aquaculture. Dr.S.Athithan, Professor and Head, Department of Aquaculture in his keynote address highlighted the soil management in aquaculture. Topics such as nutrient management and carbon nitrogen ratio in soil, plankton productivity in the fish culture system and the importance of soil and water quality in aquaculture were delivered by the staff of the department. A total of 19 farmers from in and around Thoothukudi district were benefited through this programme. Dr.V.Rani, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs.D.Manimekalai, Assistant Professor coordinated the programme.

தூத்துக்குடி மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தில்  சர்வதேச மண் வள தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது

இயற்கை வளங்களில் மண் வளம் பெரிதும் இன்றியமையாதது மட்டுமல்லாமல் மனிதர்களுக்குத் தேவையான உணவு உற்பத்தி நீர் ஆதாரம் மற்றும் அனைத்து வகையான செயல்பாடுகளுக்கும் உறுதுணையாக இருப்பதால் உலகம் முழுவதும் டிசம்பர் 5-ம் நாள் மண் வள தினமாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகின்றது. இதனைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு புதுடெல்லியில் உள்ள இந்திய வேளாண் ஆராய்ச்சிக் கழகம் அறிவுறுத்தலின்படி தூத்துக்குடி மீன்வளக் கல்லூரி மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தில் மண் வள நாள் 05.12.2018 அன்று வெகு சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியினை நீர்வளச் சுழலியல் மேலாண்மைத்துறை நடத்தியது. இதன் துவக்க விழாவில் முனைவர் பா. பத்மாவதி இணைப்பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தலைவர் நீர்வளச் சுழலியல் மேலாண்மைத்துறை அவர்கள் வரவேற்புரை நிகழ்த்தினார். இக்கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் (பொறுப்பு) முனைவர் என்.வி.சுஜாத்குமார் அவர்கள்         தனது தலைமை உரையில் மண் வளதினத்தின் முக்கியத்துவம் மற்றும் மீன்வளர்ப்பில் மண் வளத்தின் பங்கு பற்றி விரிவாக எடுத்துரைத்தார். மேலும் மீன்வளர்ப்புத் துறையின் தலைவர் முனைவர் சா.ஆதித்தன் பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் தலைவர் தனது கருத்துரையில் மண் வளத்தையும் அதை சார்ந்த தொழில் நுட்பங்களையும் அதன் செயல்முறை விளக்கங்களையும் எடுத்துரைத்தார்.
    மேலும் நீர் வளச் சுழலியல் மேலாண்மைத் துறையின் பேராசிரியர்கள் மண் உர மேலாண்மை மற்றும் மண்ணில் கார்பன்:நைட்ரஜன் விகிதம் மீன் வளர்ப்பிற்கு மிதவை உயிரினங்களின் முக்கியத்துவம் மண் மற்றும் நீர் தர மேலாண்மை போன்ற தலைப்புகளில் உரையாற்றினர்.  இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் தூத்துக்குடி மற்றும் அதை சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதியைச் சார்ந்த 19 மீன் பண்ணையாளர்கள்; கலந்துகொண்டு பயனடைந்தனர்.  நீர்வளச் சுழலியல் மேலாண்மைத்துறையின் உதவிப்பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் வே.ராணி அவர்கள் நன்றியுரை வழங்கினார்.  து.மணிமேகலை உதவிப்பேராசிரியர் அவர்கள் இந்நிகழ்ச்சியினை தொகுத்து வழங்கினார்
