Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University conducted UG admission
counselling for the year 2018-19 for the BFSc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science) BE ( Fisheries
Engineering) and B.Tech (Biotechnology) courses at Institute of Fisheries Post Graduate
Studies, Vaniyanchavadi, Chennai on 18th and 19th of July 2018. Thiru. D. Jayakumar,
Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries and Pro-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries
University handed over the admission letter to the meritorious students in the presence of
Prof. S.Felix, Vice Chancellor, TNJFU and Dr. K. Gopal, Principal Secretary, Department of
Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries. Honorable Minister gave the selection orders for
B.F.Sc degree programme for three top rank students, Ilakya, Rama pandi and Ajay.
Counselling was held to fill up 141 BFSc seats for Fisheries College & Research
Institute (60 seats) , Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Fisheries College & Research Institute (60)
and Dr. MGR Fisheries College & Research Institute, Thalainayeru (30 seats) on 18.07.2018.
In this counselling, 435 students participated and all the seats were filled up. Counselling for
admission of BE (Fisheries Engineering) offered at College of Fisheries Engineering,
Panagudi, Nagapattinam and B.Tech (Biotechnology) offered at Institute of Fisheries Post
Graduate Studies, Vaniyanchavadi, Chennai to fill up 30 and 40 seats respectively are going
to be held tomorrow (19.07.2018).
The University has a plan to offer four year degree on B.Tech – Food Technology
and waiting for government order. In addition, Paraprofessional Institutes will also be
established at Mandapam, Muttukadu and Rayapuram, where one year diploma programmes
will be offered. In this event, Dr. A. Srinivasan, Registrar i/c, Dr. S.A. Shanmugam,
Chairman, Admission Committee and Controller of Examinations, Dr. K. Karal Marx, Dean,
Institute of Fisheries Post Graduate Studies, Deans of various colleges and University
Officers participated.
