A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Dr D.R.Anandakumar, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Dr.G.Jeyasekaran, Director of Research, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (TNFU) in the presence of Dr.Baskaran Manimaran, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University (TNFU) on 22.08.2015 at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The Directorate of Extension Education of both TNAU and TNFU is desirous of collaborating in the areas of capacity building on latest and improved fisheries technologies.
The memorandum also aims to synergize their capabilities by working in close co-operation by taking up coordinated outreach projects of topical relevance.
The general objectives of the memorandums include capacity building programmes in the KVKs of TNAU for the extension functionaries, farmers groups, farmers and TNAU scientists on latest and improved fisheries technologies for making fisheries enterprise a part of integrated farming systems.
The memorandum also endeavors to document fisheries technologies and success stories in the form of video films (DVDs and CDs) through the educational Media Centre of the Directorate of Extension Education.
Joint extension research activities would be undertaken for the larger interest of the society. The agreement also intends to provide / share facilities for extension, training, workshop / seminars in the areas of mutual relevance.
The memorandum is signed for a period of three years
