Vice-Chancellor’s Visit to FC&RI, Thoothukudi, Thengapattinam, Ganapathypuram, Parakkai, Mandapam and Korukkai Centres

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, TNJFU visited the Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi on 02.07.2025.  During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor participated in the “Boomi Pooja” for the construction of the Ladies Hostel First Floor for Fisheries College and Research Insititute, Thoothukudi at Staff Quarters Campus, Thoothukudi. He also inaugurated the newly constructed Laboratory at the Department of Fish Processing Technology under Flood Relief Fund, and Marine Engine Workshop at Department of Fishing Technology and Fisheries Engineering (Shore Lab campus). Participated in the TANII Scheme – Trollor Line operation, and inspected all the departments of Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi. The Vice-Chancellor also participated in the Troller Boat Demo.

The  Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor visited Panagudi village, Tirunelveli district, on the afternoon of 02.07.2025 for inspecting the land allotted to TNJFU for the establishment of a new Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) along with the Estate Officer, TNJFU.

Respected Vice-Chancellor visited Centre for Incubation and Vocational Training in Fisheries, Thengapattinam on the forenoon of 03.07.2025. In the Visit, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor met with staff and discussed the activities of the centre, and viewed the availability of facilities and resources at the premises.

On 3rd July 2025, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University visited the Kanyakumari Parakkai Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture and reviewed the ongoing activities, research programs, and infrastructural facilities of the centre. During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor also interacted with the trainees who had successfully completed the three-day training programme on “Ornamental Fish Production Techniques,” encouraging them to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in the ornamental fish sector.

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor visited Kanyakumari Ganapathipuram Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture on afternoon of 03.07.2025 and evaluated on the facilities and man power availability at this centre. Vice-Chancellor also insisted to develop facility for brood stock rearing, marine aquarium and followup the proposal on the flood relief fund.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, visited the Mandapam Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture, Mandapam, on 04.07.2025. The Vice-Chancellor went around the campus and observed the activities of the Centre; He paid visits to the marine finfish Hatchery and observed the marine ornamental fishes inside the Hatchery. He took note of the marine ornamental fishes like Bicolor Blenny (Ecsenius bicolor), Yellow tipped damsel (Neopomacentrus nemurus) and Queen Coris Wrasse (Coris formosa) and shared his ideas for improved rearing and breeding of the given species. To the mark the occasion and to officially initiate the broodstock development programme of Asian seabass, the Respected Vice-Chancellor stocked the brooders into the broodstock tanks of the Marine Finfish Hatchery.  Dr.C.Anand, Assistant Professor has been instructed to collect more seabass brooders and attempt breeding of seabass within 3 months.

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor also visited Korukkai farm of Dr.MGR Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thalainayeru and interacted with the faculty and insisted to propose revolving fund schemes.
